Fusing siloed meter, control-system, and occupancy data to detect building faults and find energy waste
Intuceo connected meter readings, utility control-system data, and occupancy records that
had been sitting in separate systems, so that anomalies trigger fault notifications and facilities
that go un-utilized can be flagged for de-energizing to save energy and cost.

Client Overview
The client manages a portfolio of buildings and facilities, with energy use tracked through
electric building meters and operational subsystems managed by a Utility Management and
Control System. Occupancy across those facilities varies, and both energy cost and equipment
reliability depend on catching problems early.
The Challenge
Meter and building system data sat in separate silos, so faults and
energy waste went unnoticed
The data that could reveal a building fault was split across systems that did not talk to
each other. Meter readings lived in one place, building-level operational data in the Utility
Management and Control System lived in another, and occupancy sat elsewhere again.
Independently, none of these sources made an anomaly obvious, so equipment problems could
develop without a clear signal.
The same silos hid energy waste. Facilities could run un-utilized while still fully energized, and
there was no straightforward way to line up occupancy against meter data to see where energy
and cost were being spent on empty space.
The Solution
Intuceo correlated the siloed data sources so anomalies raise fault
notifications and energy waste becomes visible
Intuceo fused the client’s separate data sources into a single view and applied correlation and
anomaly detection across them. The work addressed two problems the silos had been hiding:
building faults and energy waste.
Technology
The solution moves from siloed source data through correlation
into fault notifications and savings
Outcomes
What the client now has in place after the engagement
- Detection of building system anomalies by fusing meter and building system data that used to sit in separate silos.
- Fault notifications triggered when correlated control-system and meter data indicate an anomaly.
- Identification of un-utilized facilities that can be de-energized for cost savings.
- Energy waste made visible by comparing occupancy against meter data, supporting energy and cost savings.
Detect Problems Before They Become Expensive
The signals are there. They are just scattered across meters, control systems, and
occupancy logs that never compare notes, so a fault surfaces only after it fails and an
empty building keeps drawing power until someone notices the bill. Intuceo brings those
sources together and correlates them, so anomalies raise a notification early and idle
facilities get flagged before they cost you another month.
